CMNTY FTR: Connective Climbing

Climbing has a reputation for being intimidating…until you actually step into it. Then you realize it’s not just a sport. It’s problem-solving, courage, trust, and a weirdly beautiful kind of community.

Founded by Brooke and Noah, Connective Climbing is a Colorado-based climbing brand built around authentic content, thoughtful coaching, and meaningful interactions. No matter climbers' skill level, they’re creating a space where progress doesn’t have to come with pressure.

Brooke and Noah shared Connective Climbing's origin story, what they stand for, and why this partnership with RIVR feels like a natural fit.

What is Connective Climbing and who is it for?

Connective Climbing is a community-driven climbing brand that creates authentic content, thoughtful coaching, and meaningful connection for climbers of all skill levels.

What made you want to build this community?

In 2021, Brooke started posting climbing videos on TikTok just for fun, and one of her first videos quickly went viral. After gaining thousands of followers in a matter of weeks, she decided to take content creation more seriously. Around the same time, Noah was coaching Brooke, and she began sharing his coaching tips online. The response made it clear there was a real need for beginner-friendly climbing content. After a year of posting and growing their community, they expanded to Instagram and YouTube, and have since grown to over 210K followers across platforms.

What are the values you coach from—and what makes your approach different?

Our coaching methodology is based around personalized climbing coaching with a holistic, practical, and long-term focus on climbing as it fits into your life.

What do you always tell beginners who feel intimidated by the climbing scene?

I always tell beginners that no one in the gym is judging them—everyone is way too focused on their own climbing. Every climber you see started exactly where you are, and feeling awkward or intimidated at first is completely normal. Take it slow, try things that look fun, and don’t be afraid to ask questions. You belong here just as much as anyone else.

What’s the most underrated part of climbing culture?

How supportive it actually is. From the outside, climbing can look intimidating or exclusive, but most climbers genuinely want to help each other succeed. It’s way more about community and shared success than competition, and we wish more people knew that before walking into the gym for the first time.

Why RIVR? What makes this partnership feel aligned with Connective Climbing?

RIVR feels like a natural fit. We’re both focused on making climbing more approachable and intentional, not intimidating or performative. They care about quality, community, and actually supporting climbers where they’re at, which lines up really closely with how we approach Connective Climbing.
