CMNTY FTR: Nobody Cares Run Club
Movement doesn’t need to be intense to matter. Sometimes, it’s just about showing up and being part of a space where you feel welcome.
Nobody Cares Run Club is exactly that.
We sat down with Chris Apodaca, Co-Founder and Brand Director of Nobody Cares Run Club (NCRC)—a Southern California-based community for runners of all paces, built on consistency, connection, and a simple mindset: no egos, no expectations, just good people moving together.
Chris shared what NCRC is all about—and why the best kind of progress is the kind you actually enjoy.

For someone new here, what is NCRC? What kind of people show up?
Nobody Cares Run Club is a safe space for people that want to get started or looking to stay consistent. We're not focused on being the fastest or having the flashiest gear. No egos. No expectations. Just good people moving together and having fun.
How did NCRC start?
Nobody Cares Run Club is the brainchild of Jonny Soto, born during COVID as a joke and a friendly competition between friends. With no way to meet in person, we needed something that would keep us accountable, motivated, and moving.
Jonny started running around and posting his miles on Instagram until the realization hit: nobody actually cares if you post your runs. That idea became both the name and the energy behind NCRC. He brought me in to help shape the branding and vision, which unexpectedly kick-started my own running journey. What began as messing around quickly grew into a real community of like-minded individuals.
I was never a star athlete or a track kid. I hated running and always felt like you had to look a certain way to be even considered a “runner.” That’s why the Nobody Cares mindset resonated so deeply with me. It’s not about your pace, your appearance, or your gear. It’s about showing up for yourself, doing the work, and sharing it.. not for validation or clout, but because you did it and just maybe that sparks a fire in someone else.

If NCRC had an unofficial motto, what would it be?
“Embrace Your Pace” is something we’ve always told one another as it's not a race. "Show up for yourself", because at the end of the day, that’s what really matters.
What’s a small ritual you all share that makes it feel like more than “just a run”?
It's just checking in with one another before and after. Talking, stretching, laughing, sharing how the run felt, or how the week’s been going. Sometimes it’s just hanging around longer than planned. That’s where the community really lives.
“Embrace Your Pace” — what do you wish more people understood about showing up?
It's not about how fast you run, it's about the journey. Pace doesn’t define your effort or your worth. Showing up slow is always better than not showing up at all.
Why RIVR? What makes this partnership feel aligned with NCRC?
Community moves us. RIVR keeps us sharp. It’s about energy, clarity, and balance. Like NCRC, it supports the ritual around movement without trying to turn it into something intimidating. It fits naturally into the moments that make the run more than just miles, there is intention.
